Project Name: Carrington Street Car Park, Mayfair, London
Architects: Allford Hall Monoghan Morris
Main Contractor: Ardmore
Size: 1,558 L. Mtr
The Client
Ardmore are one of the UK’s largest family-owned construction groups; pre-dominantly specialising in large scale design and the building of residential projects in London. Well known for their work across hundreds of major projects including the residential projects at Ten Trinity Square and the Chelsea Waterfront they’ve also been involved in the design and build of many of the landmark buildings across the Capital.
The Project
To replace 3 separate buildings located at the Southern end of Carrington Street in Mayfair; buildings to be replaced are the Carrington Street Car Park, 51-53 Brick street and 1-6 Yarmouth Place. The new development includes 30 ‘super-prime’ residential unit and luxurious private amenities, a 2,400 sqm art gallery and 5,000sqm of high specification office and commercial space. The redevelopment includes two blocks of up to eight storeys formed in both concrete and steel frames.
The problem
Ardmore needed an Edge Protection provider who could provide a solution which could be fixed to a combination of steel and concrete frames and be erected by workers from Ardmore and Steel Construction.
The Solution
J-Safe provided a 1100mm steel mesh barrier edge protection solution. Barriers were fixed to frames using underslung clamps with web fix clamps also used on the larger beams as the project moved forward. On the day of site delivery, the J-Safe team provided on-site training to staff from both Ardmore and Steel Construction to allow the workforce to install, reposition and remove barriers as necessary as the project progressed.
